Raiders Reportedly Eye Trade to Rejoin First Round for Star WR

The Las Vegas Raiders began the offseason with a glaring hole at quarterback, but new general manager John Spytek quickly addressed the issue by bringing in Geno Smith. Now, with their veteran QB in place, the focus shifts to the team’s limited pass-catching weapons. Tight end Brock Bowers had a standout rookie year, and wideout Jakobi Meyers broke the 1,000-yard mark for the first time in his career. However, second-year players Tre Tucker and Michael Mayer have yet to make a significant impact, and the team could use more speed on the perimeter.

Raiders Predicted to Trade Back Into First Round for Record-Setting WR - Athlon Sports

The Raiders likely won’t be in position to draft top WR Travis Hunter at No. 6 overall, and other wide receiver options at that spot would be considered a stretch. But CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones proposed an intriguing alternative: trading back into the first round. In his scenario, Las Vegas makes a deal with the Philadelphia Eagles to select Ohio State standout Emeka Egbuka.

“Howie Roseman is always open to trade, and here he moves down five spots,” Jones wrote. “The Raiders need more receiving threats, and they’d be thrilled to land a polished player like Egbuka.”

Egbuka, who set the Ohio State record for career receiving yards last season, also played under current Raiders offensive coordinator Chip Kelly during a National Championship run. His familiarity with the system and elite skill set would make him an ideal addition to the Raiders’ offense—one they might be willing to trade up for.
