Everyone starts at the beginning on Opening Day. The pileup on the pitch following the final out in a World Series conclusion is what thirty teams are all aiming for. Each of the 30 franchises would have a one in thirty chance of being eligible for that celebration in a just universe. That is a 3.3% probability. Unfortunately, the world of sports is not fair, and there is a wide range in the realistic chances between teams.
