JUST IN: Deadline Approaching for Aaron Rodgers to Decide on Steelers’ 2025 Offer

Steelers Expect Aaron Rodgers Decision by Late May

The Pittsburgh Steelers currently have three quarterbacks on the roster as they kick off their offseason program: Mason Rudolph, Skyler Thompson, and sixth-round rookie Will Howard out of Ohio State. However, the team previously stated it plans to carry four quarterbacks heading into training camp — and speculation continues to swirl around Aaron Rodgers filling that final spot.

Rodgers, who was released by the New York Jets after a disappointing 2024 season, has not committed to playing in 2025. Following his brief 2023 comeback from an Achilles tear and a rough 2024 campaign that ended with the Jets going 5-12, new Jets leadership decided to part ways with the four-time MVP. Since then, the Steelers are reportedly the only team that has shown concrete interest in signing him.

Although Pittsburgh had hoped Rodgers would make a decision before the NFL Draft, the organization has expressed continued patience. According to Steelers insider Mark Kaboly, the wait may soon be over. Kaboly revealed on social media that Rodgers is expected to make his decision by May 27, just ahead of the team’s organized team activities (OTAs).

“I say May 22, but definitely before OTAs start on May 27,” Kaboly wrote in response to a fan asking when Rodgers might join the team.

With the offseason heating up, the Steelers are nearing a crucial moment that could determine the direction of their quarterback room — and potentially the team’s 2025 season. All eyes now turn to Aaron Rodgers and his next move.
