Nico Williams has as a priority to sign for FC Barcelona in this summer market. In this sense, the other competitor of the culé team in the race to acquire the services of the Pamplona forward, Bayern Munich, seems to have definitively taken a back seat.
And yes, although it was recently reported that the Bavarian team was willing to go all out to finalize the incorporation of the youngest of the Williams brothers —to the point of offering him a salary of about 12 M€ net per season—, this would not have been enough to convince the attacker.
Nico Williams would have already rejected Bayern’s new proposal
According to the sports newspaper SPORT, Nico Williams would have declined any type of negotiation with the Munich team or any other team, until it is clarified if he can finalize his arrival at FC Barcelona. A position that only reaffirms the unequivocal desire of the forward to join the Catalan team this summer.
In turn, it represents a new rejection for a Bayern Munich whose movements to incorporate a star left winger this summer have not had a positive balance. It should be remembered that on the list of players of interest to the Germans, in addition to Nico Williams, was also the name of Bradley Barcola of Paris Saint-Germain, a player who, in principle, seems unlikely to leave the French club this summer.
The twist in the operation: key meeting with Deco
The rejection with Nico is perhaps a little more painful if you will, since at the time it was commented that the Germans had established contacts with the player’s environment to explore his incorporation this summer. Faced with this, they encountered positive feelings towards a possible transfer. However, everything changed after a meeting between the player’s agent, Félix Tainta, and Deco, sports director of Barça.
After that ‘summit’, established in Barcelona in mid-June, the forward would have expressed his willingness to sign for the Blaugrana club. And, seeing that gesture —openly manifested by the youngest of the Williams brothers—, Barcelona would have decided to place him at the top of its list of priorities. In fact, above Luis Díaz of Liverpool. His signing generates consensus in all levels of the culé sports dome.
Since then, information has emerged in which it is even asserted that there would already be a personal agreement with the player: a six-season contract and a net salary that would range between 7 and 8 M€ net. Under this premise, only the respective disbursement of the termination clause would remain pending, stipulated at about 62 ‘kilos’ (58 M€ plus four of CPI).
Barcelona would be close to paying Nico’s termination clause
It is estimated that this clause could be paid soon, specifically before July 9, the date on which the pre-season of Athletic Club begins. A key moment for this operation, since Nico would not want to rejoin the dynamics of the Basque team to avoid greater pressures.

Now, the problem does not seem to be the disbursement of the termination clause, but rather the guarantees related to being able to register the player promptly. An issue that, as has been commented, is being the main stumbling block to finalize the negotiation, given the conditions demanded by the left winger’s agent.
Bayern does not give up on Nico Williams
This point is what has opened a small window of hope for the clubs interested in Nico Williams, especially for Bayern Munich. Despite all the rejections apparently received, the Bavarian club still does not give up on the idea of being able to sign him this summer, in case the operation with Barcelona falls through. A scenario where they could have greater opportunities to bring the transaction to fruition.
However, everything will depend precisely on whether or not his incorporation to the Blaugrana team can be finalized. A question that, given the latest events and the good harmony between all parties, seems a more than possible scenario. And that, in terms of deadlines, should not be delayed much longer in time.
