Ever the professional in the Octagon, Dustin Poirier has made a stark admission of plans when he retires after UFC 318.
Making his final walk at UFC 318 this month, Poirier will compete for the symbolic BMF championship — looking to finally break through at the second time of trying.
And completing his trilogy with Max Holloway, the former interim champion retains the knowledge of two prior wins over the Hawaiian.
But with his retirement looming, it seems Poirier is keen to get moving on in one aspect of his life once he leaves the Octagon at UFC 318 in his home state.
A proponent of former anti-doping agency USADA (United States Anti-Doping Agency) during their partnership with the UFC, Lafayette star Poirier, seems to have ditched all plans to remain ‘clean’ once his career is over.
Struggling to make lightweight during his career due to his significant stature, Poirier is ready to throw the baby out with the bath water — and begin a steroid cycle.
“This will be the last time I’m ever 155 pounds in my life, I can promise you that,” Poirier told ESPNMMA this week. “I’m getting on steroids. Once USADA stops knocking on my door and I lay the gloves down, I’m getting jacked and tan.
“My wife’s like, ‘No you’re not!’ I’m getting on it,” Poirier laughed. “That’s the honest truth.”
And while enjoying a clean career in combat sports, Poirier speculated in the past whether or not one of his most infamous rivals could claim the same.
