Wrexham have been told one thing they should expect next season that they have never faced since Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney took over.
Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney gained control of Wrexham back in February 2021, and since then, the club has gone on an incredible upward trajectory.
Wrexham have now notched three successive promotions under Phil Parkinson’s stewardship, despite the pressure that has constantly been put on the players’ shoulders.
However, their biggest hurdle awaits this season as a Championship campaign looms for Wrexham. There have been several big decisions made already in the wake of the upcoming season, which has included Parkinson making Paul Mullin surplus to requirements, with the Liverpudlian now playing for Wigan Athletic on loan.
The Championship will be an unknown for many of the Wrexham players, with finance expert Kieran Maguire detailing why the upcoming campaign will feel unique for the Red Dragons.

Wrexham will face a ‘completely different beast’ as Championship quality could cause issues
This season, Wrexham will be competing with several former Premier League sides, and coming up against top players at all clubs.
On top of quality within the ranks, club stature is also one area in which Wrexham are somewhat overshadowed by a few clubs in the division.
This has been highlighted by finance expert Kieran Maguire, who gave a quick preview of Wrexham’s season and their chances in the Championship.
Maguire showed optimism towards the idea of Wrexham doing well this season but emphasised that it would be a campaign like no other for the players.
“Wrexham have been the biggest fish in the pond for certainly the National League and League Two,” said Maguire when speaking to Benjamin Bloom on YouTube. “And then they were the second biggest fish in the pond in terms of following Birmingham City Football Club in League One. Next year, gloves are really off, and I think it will be a fascinating season.
“It will be tough. They are now dealing with a completely different beast.”

Wrexham could thrive as the underdogs this season
Compared to previous seasons, Wrexham are set to face the biggest jump in quality between divisions. Wrexham have one man who knows all about that, and that is Phil Parkinson, who has notched 141 games in management in the Championship, and he will no doubt make it clear to the players that it will be a big challenge this season.
Parkinson’s awareness of the difficulty, however, will not prove to be a drawback for the Red Dragons boss, but more likely a reason for motivation for his players.
There is no reason why Wrexham cannot continue their momentum into the new season – whether this results in them just achieving survival, or potentially something more, it will no doubt be a campaign that will significantly develop the character of all members of the squad.
