Newcastle United transfer news & rumours as Anthony Elanga rivals emerge and £50m quote for England hero

Newcastle United are facing competition to sign Nottingham Forest star Anthony Elanga, and an eye-watering £50m price tag for an out-of-favour England star.
Fans are getting restless, but it looks like some deals will be done in Tyneside soon.
Newcastle United were dealt another setback in the summer transfer window after it was confirmed that Joao Pedro had opted to join Chelsea despite talks with Eddie Howe’s recruitment team.
His reasoning for joining has baffled many, with Pedro believing that Chelsea will bring him a better chance of playing in the 2026 World Cup. That is despite the fact that Newcastle have two Brazilian internationals on their books.
In the meantime, Newcastle are still interested in signing Anthony Elanga, but they have just been dealt a new blow which could impact their chances of signing him.

Aston Villa register interest in Anthony Elanga
After selling their women’s team to a parent company, Aston Villa could make Newcastle even more furious after recent reports.
According to TalkSPORT, Villa have registered an interest in Elanga after overcoming their PSR problems. Unai Emery is looking for more attacking reinforcements this summer and believes that Elanga is the right player for Villa.
Nottingham Forest are not willing sellers of Elanga, however, with the feeling being that they will not accept any less than £60m for him this summer.
The winger had a brilliant 2024/25 campaign, scoring six goals and bagging 11 assists in the Premier League.

Newcastle United quoted £50m for Harvey Elliott
On Monday, Geordie Boot Boys shared that Newcastle were one of several clubs interested in Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott.
The 22-year-old is coming off the back of a memorable Under-21s European Championship campaign with England, picking up the Player of the Tournament award after the Young Lions’ thrilling win against Germany in the finals.
However, things were not as good for Elliott in the Premier League, having made just two starts throughout the season.
A boost for Newcastle is that Elliott will favour teams in the Champions League, meaning they effectively hold the upper hand on other interested parties like Wolves.

Ben Foster assesses James Trafford’s move to Newcastle United
After over a year of interest, it looks like Newcastle will finally sign James Trafford from Burnley. The shot-stopper is coming off the back of a sensational season in the Championship, keeping a record 29 clean sheets in the league.
Reports have stated that Trafford has agreed personal terms with Newcastle, and Ben Foster now believes that his transfer is “imminent”.
Foster thinks Trafford joining Newcastle is the right move for him. “I think it is imminent [Trafford leaving Burnley], to be perfectly honest with you,” Foster said on his YouTube channel.
“Whether it’s Man City or whether it’s Newcastle, I think he is going to be going.
“Whether he’s going to get first-team football straight away, I’m not fully sure. We’re just going to have to wait and see.
“For Man City, it probably makes more sense for them to be perfectly honest because they have that sell-on clause. I think this is why they [Burnley] are holding out for a bit more money.”
