Newcastle United have seen several transfer targets slip through their fingers already this summer as they opt for other clubs over a move to Tyneside.
As the Magpies vie for a new right winger, they’ve already walked away from their priority target, Bryan Mbeumo, when it became clear the deal was going to be too costly.
While not an out-and-out winger, Joao Pedro has since opted to join Chelsea.
Now Newcastle are focusing on Nottingham Forest winger Anthony Elanga, but while they’re doing that, a reported backup option has committed his future elsewhere.
Antoine Semenyo has committed his future to Bournemouth
West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus and Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo were other targets that the Magpies have on their list, according to several reports, but Kudus seems destined for Tottenham, while Antoine Semenyo has just committed his future to Bournemouth.
Semenyo had been slapped with a £70 million price tag by the Cherries in a bid to dissuade any potential buyers, but now tying down the former Sunderland winger to a contract running to 2030 will have added an extra layer of security.
The versatile winger can play down either flank and would have been a useful, if not inspiring, addition to Newcastle’s squad. We’re sure Eddie Howe would have been able to take him up another level as he does with so many players, but we’re not going to lose sleep over this one.
Anthony Elanga is reportedly keen on the move to Newcastle
Newcastle are still at the table for Anthony Elanga, who was recently seen dancing around the living room with Newcastle forward Will Osula on TikTok.
There does seem to be a confidence that the Elanga move will happen. At this stage, it seems to be about finding a deal that works for both clubs, with the player seemingly keen on the move.
Between Alexander Isak and Will Osula, surely we can convince the Sweden international that his future lies on Tyneside.
