Sheffield United are interested in Stoke City midfielder Wouter Burger, according to EFL Analysis.
Sheffield United are keen on a move for the Dutchman this summer. SUFC are poised to sell Vini Souza to Wolfsburg, as per Kicker, and will have a vacancy to fill in the middle of the par

Burger, 24, was signed by Stoke City in January 2023 on a four-year deal running until 2027. He has since made 86 appearances in all competitions, chipping in with five goals.
In this latest update regarding his situation, EFL Analysis claim the Blades are targeting a potential swoop. Other teams are also believed to be admirers.
Burger was eyed by FC Midtjylland in January and said afterwards, via StokeOnTrentLive: “I am here under contract and have a beautiful life because of the club who is paying me. People who do not do that are absolutely stupid. Look at the life we have, we should be thankful. Of course everything in perspective, I was a little bit disappointed but this is football and we move on.
“I wanted to make sure that I wouldn’t show any reaction on the pitch. Never mind moaning or moping around, I just want to play football. That’s what I like to do. I move forward.”
Sheffield United eye Stoke City’s Wouter Burger
Sheffield United could see Burger as someone to step into Souza’s shoes. SUFC have an important couple of months ahead on the recruitment front.

Burger has been a key player for Stoke City over the past two years. It would be a blow for the Potters to lose him, especially to a team in the same league.
Prior to his transfer to England, he spent three years on the books at FC Basel and played 76 games for their first-team, finding the net on five occasions. He rose up through the academy ranks at Feyenoord and played 16 times for the Eredivisie giants as a youngster.
What now for Sheffield United?
Sheffield United are gearing up for another year in the second tier. SUFC were beaten in the play-off final in May by Sunderland at Wembley.
The Blades subsequently sacked Chris Wilder in a bold move. Ruben Selles was brought in following his dismissal by Hull City.
Selles, who has also managed Southampton and Reading in the past, will want to put his own stamp on his newly inherited squad with some reinforcements. Time will tell whether the South Yorkshire outfit end up lodging an official approach for Burger at Stoke City.
