The North Londoners have been trying to bring in highly rated young players from around the continent and beyond ever since Daniel Levy adapted the transfer strategy to bring in high-potential players to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and develop them through the corridors at Hotspur Way. And the Lilywhites are said to be looking to bring in England Under-21 midfielder Hayden Hackney.
We saw how Spurs brought in Archie Gray for marquee money given his exemplary potential, and the Leeds United academy graduate has been taking strides at N17 in the past twelve months or so, and now it’s time to bring in another highly touted player this summer who has the capability to partner Gray in the middle of the park for years to come.

There were a lot of reports linking Tottenham with a move for Hayden Hackney a few weeks ago, but nothing came through, and the talks died down among the ever-present rumour mill. But the claims reemerged when there were reports suggesting that the Premier League heavyweights have been monitoring the midfielder’s performances at the UEFA U21 Euros.
But now transfer reports expert Graeme Bailey claims that the Lilywhites are not the only club who are looking to land the Middlesbrough midfielder, with a few clubs from the English top tier as well as abroad looking to run the rule over his signatures this summer.
He went on to claim that the 23-year-old is more likely to leave the Riverside Stadium in the ongoing summer transfer window, revealing that an offer in the range of £20m to £25m will prove enough for his current employers to sell their highly acclaimed starlet.
Speaking in an interview with EFL Analysis, Bailey said:
“Hayden Hackney does have a lot of interest from some teams in Europe, and in England, there are a host of clubs who have watched him; there isn’t a single Premier League club that hasn’t watched Hackney.
“He’s doing well and Middlesbrough will have a price on him. If someone comes in with £20m-£25m it’ll be very hard for Middlesbrough to turn that down. It’s pure profit.
“There is an awful lot of interest in him. Obviously, he is at the U21 Euros with England now and doing well there. Do I expect Hackney to still be at Boro come September? I’d be surprised at this point if he was still there.”
Is Hackney enough?
We have been seeing so many reports suggesting that incoming manager Thomas Frank will be backed with marquee signings, and yet we are yet to see Daniel Levy make any considerable move in the transfer market this summer window. Even if the North Londoners end up signing the former Middlesbrough midfielder, the Lilywhites faithful are not going to be really excited about yet another up-and-coming talent, especially with Champions League football returning to N17 next season.
