Tottenham could have the next Steven Gerrard on their books right now

Tottenham Hotspur had a poor season last time around, but there were some bright sparks for Spurs.
Indeed, many of Tottenham’s young players put in solid campaigns last time around, and there are some strong foundations to build on there.
Mikey Moore had a strong season, while Lucas Bergvall received a lot of praise for his performances last year.
Archie Gray was also in the spotlight last term, and he could be set for a big season this time around too.
Indeed, Thomas Frank could get the best out of Gray, and according to Dan Kilpatrick, speaking on The View From The Lane, there is a view that Gray could grow into a more Steven Gerrard-type midfielder as he gets older.

Archie Gray could become a Steven Gerrard type player
Kilpatrick spoke about Gray and his best position.
Gray has spent most of his career so far switching between right-back and centre-half, and according to Kilpatrick, there’s now a view that the youngster could grow into an all-action central midfielder akin to Steven Gerrard.
“I think his best position is still a little bit up in the air. There’s a kind of assumption that, you know, he arrived here as a six and he was going to play deep. I think I’ve spoken to people that think he’s more of a kind of Gerrard type who could get up and down the pitch and kind of be a threat around the opposition goal,” Kilpatrick said.
“We spoke last time on the pod about Frank’s record of improving players and, you know, I mentioned the forwards, but he’s a good coach who’s tending to improve young players, you know, across his squads. And we know he likes Archie Gray. So I think he’s a player who could be set for a really important season.”
Archie Gray’s stats in midfield
Gray has had to play in so many different positions so far in his career, but he has had the odd outing as a midfield player.
However, when he has played in midfield, he hasn’t shown many of these Gerrard-esque qualities that Kilpatrick speaks about.
Indeed, Steven Gerrard was largely known for his ability to score and create goals, while also dominating the middle of the park.
However, Gray doesn’t have the goals or assists to back up his claim to play in this role.

Of course, at the age of just 19, that’s something Gray can seriously work on improving as he matures and gets older, and it may be one of Thomas Frank’s first ports of call at Spurs.
Gray could become an exciting player in years to come, that’s for sure.
