SWANSEA CITY BOSS: MICHAEL DUFF PRAISES KEY PLAYER /ENERGY FROM THE BENCH WAS A POSITIVE

Michael Duff believes new signing Charlie Patino showed glimpses of the quality and energy he can bring to Swansea City after an eye-catching cameo in the 3-2 defeat at West Bromwich Albion.

The 19-year-old midfielder had limited time to settle into life in his new surroundings before making his debut as a substitute at The Hawthorns.

But the on-loan Arsenal man wasted no time making his presence felt, delivering a series of threatening balls into the box as the Swans launched a spirited fightback.

He claimed an assist for Harry Darling’s headed goal, and was also involved in the build up to Nathan Wood’s second, while Duff was also pleased with the impact of Josh Ginnelly.

“I thought Charlie looked good, he is a good footballer but he also played with a purpose,” said the Swans head coach.

“He played forward, but kept it when we had to keep it, so he was a real positive.

“I thought Gino (Josh Ginnelly) looked a real threat when he came on, as well.

“There is quality in the group, we just need to find an edge.”
