PSV are still interested in re-signing Jarrad Branthwaite this summer.
That’s according to journalist Rik Elfrink, who has reported that the Dutch club have made a new offer to sign the defender.
Branthwaite spent last season on loan at PSV after failing to earn regular game time in the Premier League. The centre-back made 36 appearances in all competitions and lifted the KNVB Cup in the process.
PSV were eager to bring Branthwaite back to the Netherlands after holding discussions over a permanent move, however the Toffees’ valuation of the player left them unable to bring him in.
Everton were said to be eager to make use of Branthwaite’s successful loan this season and reintegrate him into the first team as they looked to enjoy a more positive campaign.
However, the ‘fantastic’ 21-year-old is yet to feature under Sean Dyche and has found himself on the bench behind James Tarkowski and Michael Keane in their opening two games.
Jarrad Branthwaite could be forced to choose between Everton and PSV – if they can afford him
Despite a lack of minutes so far, the News & Star have claimed that Everton have offered Branthwaite a new contract as they look to ward off interest elsewhere.
PSV are hopeful of luring Branthwaite back to Eindhoven and have already made an offer to tempt him into not putting pen to paper on a new deal.
It is unclear how much they are prepared to pay for the Carlisle United academy graduate, though it seems unlikely that they will be much closer to reaching Everton’s valuation.
The news of PSV’s bid comes after Branthwaite posted an Instagram story of him in attendance at the Ibrox Stadium yesterday, as the Dutch giants played out a 2-2 draw with Rangers in the Champions League qualifiers.
Everton will hope that the defender isn’t leaning towards a return to the Eredivisie, though his lack of football this season certainly won’t help.
