Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur ‘plot’ move for £30m PSV wonderkid who starred against Rangers
Newcastle United transfers: The Magpies are reportedly plotting a late move for PSV winger Johan Bakayoko.
Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with signing PSV winger Johan Bakayoko. Both clubs reportedly sent scouts to watch the 20-year-old in action during PSV’s Champions League qualifier against Rangers.
Bakayoko grabbed a brace of assists in that game as the two sides played out an exciting 2-2 draw at Ibrox. Bakayoko has also caught the attention of Everton and Burnley ahead of Friday’s summer transfer deadline.

PSV reportedly value Bakayoko at £30m and whilst he hasn’t made a goal contribution in the Eredivisie this summer, the Belgian international has registered four assists in PSV’s Champions League qualifying journey to date this season.

Clubs in England have until 11pm on Friday night to conclude all their transfer business. The Magpies have added four senior players to Eddie Howe’s ranks with Sandro Tonali, Harvey Barnes, Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall all moving to St James’ Park this summer whilst Yankuba Minteh will move to Newcastle next summer after completing a loan spell at Feyenoord.

Possible Harry Maguire to Newcastle claim leaves West Ham with a big decision to make

Newcastle United could now try to sign West Ham United target Harry Maguire from Manchester United.

According to The Daily Mail, Manchester United defender Harry Maguire is being targeted by Newcastle in a late summer transfer window swoop – after having rejected a West Ham move a couple of weeks back.
With Jonny Evans returning to Old Trafford, and Maguire falling even further down the pecking order under Erik ten Hag, the East London outfit have been linked with another move for the 30-year-old centre-back.
Hammers boss David Moyes has already signed Konstantinos Mavropanos but it could be argued that one more central defender is needed, especially if the Scot wants the flexibility of being able to play with three at the back.

With the Mail claiming that the Toon are ready to try and sign Maguire, the Hammers will have to decide whether or not to go back in for him.

The former Leicester man has really struggled to live up to his reputation and huge price-tag since moving to Old Trafford.

That’s not entirely his fault though – the way that Man United play quite simply isn’t conducive to his skill-set. People who say he isn’t very good just don’t understand football.
The Sun have described him as an incredible player, and when he’s playing in the right system, he is one of the very centre-backs around.

The fact that West Ham sit so deep would suit the England international perfectly.

However, he has already turned us down once this summer. And as long as Kurt Zouma remains at the London Stadium, I would be surprised to see Harry Maguire join West Ham before the transfer window closes.

A move to Newcastle may well be more likely for him.
