Wrexham Set To Complete astonish Deadline Day Deal For 28-years-old fantastic player maker

League Two newcomers Wrexham are set to complete the signing of Millwall midfielder George Evans, according to journalist Richard Cawley.

The 28-year-old, who was previously on the books of treble winners Manchester City, is set to swap The Den for The Racecourse Ground as Phil Parkinson’s side look to add more quality following a somewhat disappointing start to their return EFL season.

The Welsh side, co-owned by ‘Deadpool’ star Ryan Reynolds and ‘It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia’ actor Rob McElhenney, currently sit 16th in the League Two table after five matches, winning once and conceding a league-high 14 goals so far this campaign.

The midfielder has made 60 appearances for Millwall since signing for the club in 2021, scoring twice and also assisting on two occasions. So far this campaign, the 28-year-old has only made two league appearances, as well as also appearing for The Lions in the Carabao Cup in their 4-0 defeat to Reading.

Evans’ former clubs include the likes of Reading, of whom he made 71 appearances for The Royals, as well as Derby County, in which he made 42 appearances in all competitions for The Rams. He has also had spells at the likes of Walsall, Crewe Alexandra and Scunthorpe United.

The signing of the midfielder will be the club’s third signing of the summer so far, with defender Will Boyle making the move to North Wales from Huddersfield Town, as well as winger James McClean, who signs from League One Wigan Athletic.

Alongside Evans, Wrexham are also set to complete the signing of Wycombe Wanderers striker Brandon Hanlon, with the club having agreed on a deal for his services worth around £400,000 which they will pay the Chairboys.

Writer’s View

George Evans certainly has a lot of experience of playing in and around the Championship and therefore, with that in mind, it’s sure to be a good signing for Wrexham as they look to step up a gear in the EFL since their return.

The 28-year-old is a solid option who is a decent deep-lying player and signing like this might help Wrexham stop conceding so many goals as they have done so far this season. Overall, it’s an impressive signing for the Welsh club with plenty of experience under his belt and even at the age of 28, there is a sense that there is still more to come from Evans.

It’s a brilliant signing for them, even more so for League Two.
