For the assembled media, our Head Coach previewed Tuesday night’s match against Portsmouth.

IN TOP FORM

“The players have said it on numerous occasions, they’ve worked very hard on the training field and I think that’s what happens (results) when you do that. Put the work in, you get the rewards. Not always, but I think they’ve benefitted from a lot of good effort, lot of good sessions. We’ve had a bit of time, when you look at those four games, time on the training pitch. I think we’ve seen a very committed team. You look at the performance at Wigan, the players right from the first whistle were totally committed to getting a result. We know that there’s lots to improve, a long way to go and challenges to come. But definitely always nice to pick up wins and to top it off some positive performances.”

ON WHITE SHEETS

“When you keep clean sheets, the goalie or the center-backs get the credit. You’ll hear me talk about the team as a whole a lot. It all starts with Devante and whoever is next to him at the top end. The pushing, putting pressure on the ball, attempting to stop it from coming towards our goal. So I think as a group, we’ve just tried to build on some of the team’s really great aspects from last year. That was something I observed, how nicely they were organized.”

DEVANTE COLE’S FORMAT

“The first is simply class, a class finish.” It was actually a pretty good move. The conclusion was magnificent. The second goal is to be in the right place at the right moment. He makes it look easy, but it wasn’t as simple as he made it appear. If not for the offside flag, he may have had a hat trick. Devante is taking his chances right now, but he’s also very good against the ball, and it’s easy to forget that that side is just as vital for us when we’re preserving these clean sheets.”
