Following reports of a fan being stabbed in Milan before of the Magpies’ Champions League match against AC Milan, Northumbria Police issued a statement.
“We are aware of reports of a Newcastle United supporter being seriously assaulted in Milan yesterday evening,” a Northumbria Police official stated.
“We can confirm that we are supporting the authorities in Italy.”

The incident is believed to have occurred yesterday night, September 18, before Newcastle’s first game of their Champions League group stage campaign, when a group of masked individuals approached a small gathering of Newcastle fans.
According to the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office, they were not approached for consular assistance in connection with the event.
Newcastle United issued a statement about the event earlier today. “We are deeply concerned by reports that a supporter was seriously assaulted in Milan on Monday evening, and we are liaising with local authorities to understand the circumstances,” a club representative stated.
“Our thoughts are with the supporter and their family, and we hope for a full and speedy recovery.”
