Liverpool are’still interested in Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimaraes.’
Despite the fact that Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimaraes is likely to sign a new contract, Liverpool are apparently still interested in signing him.
The 25-year-old was one of Newcastle’s first marquee signings following their ownership by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, coming from Ligue 1 club Lyon. He will join the club in January 2022.

Guimaraes joined the Magpies during a relegation battle, but the Brazilian helped the team end the 2021-22 season strongly, finishing 11th in the Premier League.

Eddie Howe’s side qualified for the Champions League for the first time in 20 years after finishing fourth in the Premier League standings during the midfielder’s first full season in England.

Liverpool are still interested in signing Guimaraes, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano in his column in The Daily Briefing, despite the fact that he is set to sign new terms at Newcastle.

According to the source, Jurgen Klopp and the club’s hierarchy remain enormous fans of the Brazilian despite failing to get him to Anfield during the summer transfer window.

Following the exits of players such as Jordan Henderson and Fabinho to the riches of the Saudi Pro League, the Liverpool engine room was identified as a priority for a big overhaul ahead of the 2023-24 season.

The Merseysiders were able to sign four midfielders before the transfer window closed, bringing in Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo, and Ryan Gravenberch.

Liverpool are said to be pleased with the players they were able to bring to Anfield, but this does not mean that they have lost interest in Guimaraes.

However, it is reported that the 25-year-old is close to signing a new contract at St James’ Park, which would commit his future until the summer of 2028.
According to the source, Guimaraes and the club have reached a verbal agreement on new terms, which would see the midfielder earn much more than he does under his present contract with the Magpies.

A £100m release provision is claimed to have been placed into the deal, providing possible suitors such as Liverpool a viable way to acquire Guimaraes’ services in the future.

The inclusion of a buy-out provision is said to be a non-negotiable for the player, however the Brazilian is said to be pleased with how things have progressed at Newcastle since his arrival last year.

Guimaraes scored in the second half as Newcastle thrashed Sheffield United 8-0 in the Premier League on Sunday, with Howe’s side next facing Manchester City in the EFL Cup.
