Kelechi Iheanacho has claimed that Leicester City are ready to go toe-to-toe with Manchester City in the third round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday evening.

Leicester City are one of England’s top four tiers’ form teams, having won nine of their ten games in all competitions, while Jurgen Klopp’s team has also won all but one of their fixtures.

Iheanacho has been a key player under new Foxes boss Enzo Maresca with four goal involvements in nine all-competition appearances.

And he seems to enjoy playing in the Carabao Cup, scoring 10 goals and registering four assists in 23 outings combined for former club Manchester City and Leicester City.

Iheanacho revealed that Leicester City have no intention of going into the Carabao Cup fixture as underdogs despite the Reds higher up in the English football pyramid.

Addressing the upcoming match, the Leicester City number 14 told the club’s official website: “We’re excited. We know what Anfield is like. It’s a great atmosphere there. We’re not going there for the atmosphere, we’re going there to compete.

Ndidi, Iheanacho set for crunch EPL clash against Liverpool

“We played them in pre-season and we’re in a good place now. We’re winning games. It’s a cup game, but we know what they’re like. They’re a strong side, they’ve been doing well this season in the Premier League.

“They’ll be there for us, but we’ll have to work really hard to win.” Let’s hope we do that, and then see what happens. They do an excellent job of pressing. We must also exercise caution in this regard.

“We’ll try to give them a game, but we know they’re a strong side.”

Iheanacho has failed to score in ten previous games against Liverpool and will be looking to lead Leicester City to win on Wednesday.
