The recent injury issue has not put AC Milan off as they are continuing negotiations over the renewal of Mike Maignan’s contract, a report claims.

Calciomercato.com confirms that Milan have started negotiations with Maignan’s agents to renew and his current contract which is expiring in June 2026, and there will of course be a pay rise as part of it.

The first contacts were more of a fact-finding mission than trying to get everything very quickly resolved. The parties have expressed mutual satisfaction and there is a desire to move forward together.

A superb XI of players let go by PSG: Maignan, Simons, Nkunku...

Milan want to extend Maignan’s contract until 2028, while his entourage are aiming for a salary of around €6m net per year (compared to the current €2.8m). The next meetings will be important with regards to economic details, but the negotiations have begun.

Having joined two years ago from Lille for €15.4m, the Frenchman is now a leader of the team who managed to ensure Gianluigi Donnarumma remains forgotten.

He is currently out with a thigh muscle injury and Pioli will not risk him in the midweek match at Cagliari, but he expects to have him back available for the match against Lazio on Saturday at San Siro.
