In the summer of 2020, Hendrick made a free transfer to Newcastle United and immediately made a mark by scoring on his away debut against West Ham. He was the penultimate Magpies player to score when Mike Ashley was the owner, but he was unable to secure a regular starting position under Steve Bruce, and under Eddie Howe, he fell down the pecking order.

Hendrick joined the club on a free transfer from Burnley three years ago, but only made 27 total appearances. Hendrick relocates to Hillsborough in an effort to support Xisco Munoz’s team as they attempt to maintain their Championship status after being promoted from League One via the play-offs previous year.
