Nuno Tavares suffered an injury in Nottingham Forest’s 2-0 loss to Manchester City.
Nottingham Forest will check Nuno Tavares’ fitness after their 2-0 loss to Manchester City.

The defender was taken off in the 40th minute at the Etihad Stadium after appearing to pull something while running forward. He attempted to continue after being treated on the field, but limped off and was replaced by Gonzalo Montiel.

Tavares had a difficult first start for the Reds, as the Premier League champions exploited him early on. Forest, on the other hand, will be sweating on his fitness as they prepare for next weekend’s meeting with Brentford at the City Ground.
“I don’t know how he is,” remarked head coach Steve Cooper. “I believe he came off with a groin injury.” We’ll have to look into him. That’s how it appeared to me, but I’m not sure.”

Cooper switched to a three-man defense versus City, and Tavares started at left wing-back. Serge Aurier had recovered from a knock to replace Ola Aina as the right-sided centre-back in the starting lineup.
With less than a quarter of an hour gone, the visitors were trailing 2-0 thanks to goals from Phil Foden and Erling Haaland. They did, however, regroup and put in a spirited second half performance as the hosts got Rodri sent out for violent behaviour.

Cooper is still without Danilo, who has a hamstring injury. Felipe, the centre-back, is recovering from a knee injury but has yet to play for the first squad this season. Willy Boly played the whole 90 minutes against City after recovering from the sickness that kept him out of Monday night’s tie with Burnley.
