Two analysts discuss Nottingham Forest’s chances of surviving in the Premier League after they have left it till the last minute.

Paul Merson and Michael Dawson couldn’t agree on whether Nottingham Forest or their opponents had the best chance of surviving in the Premier League.

With Sheffield United officially eliminated, there are just two spots left up for grabs. This implies that, at the end of the season, only one of Forest, Luton Town, or Burnley will be left in the top division.

Forest’s last home game of the season is against Sheffield United, followed by a visit from Chelsea to the City Ground. Burnley will host Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur in this area prior to the match between the teams in 17th and 19th place on the last day of the season at Turf Moor.

Luton Town, in 18th place, will face Fulham, West Ham United, and Everton, who mathematically avoided relegation last weekend.

Dawson started his analysis for Sky Sports with, “Sheffield United takes care of itself; they’ve been relegated; tough game.” “Next, Saturday Night Football featuring Chelsea.

“Forest kept their cool last year when they defeated Arsenal on a Sky game. They’ll consider that if they can defeat Sheffield United away from home and defeat Chelsea—you never know with Chelsea, they could show up and play well—but City Ground, where the game kicks off at 5:30 p.m., that venue will be electric. Can they make that night unforgettable?

“After that, Burnley will not want it to go to the last game. Burnley might still win because they are only two points behind.”

Merson responded to the rallying cry for Chelsea and admission of hope from Forest’s former center-half by expressing his preference for Luton’s fixtures. When asked which club’s fixtures he would rather have, Merson confidently favored Luton over Chelsea, dismissing Dawson’s notion about facing Chelsea’s challenge.

“I’d go with Luton’s fixtures. Everton and Fulham are already safe, and West Ham, well, you know where they stand. I wouldn’t call them the easiest fixtures because they’ve been struggling, but given the choice, I’d opt for those games.”

Merson pointed out Chelsea’s recent impressive performance against the fourth-placed team in the league, emphasizing their formidable strength. He highlighted the significance of Luton winning on Friday night, as it would intensify the pressure, particularly with the expectation that Luton will defeat Fulham on the last day of the season.
